The Department of Science and Humanities at Madha Engineering College is highly focused on imparting quality education to meet the global challenges of science and technology. The department plays a vital role in laying the strongest foundation so that the students are well equipped to stand up to higher education. The understandings of basics or the fundamentals during the first year engineering help the students to confidently apply them in their engineering field and give them better insight to explore their area of specialization.

The department comprises faculty members from various disciplines such as English, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. The faculty members have authored books and presented research papers. They had published their research papers/ articles in national/international journals.

The department follows interactive academic system that prepares the students with the skills and knowledge they will need to be successful in a changing society enabling the learners to become responsible and responsive citizens.

Physics is crucial to understanding the world around us, the world inside us, and the world beyond us. It is the most basic and fundamental science. Advances in physics often translate to the technological sector, and sometimes influence the other sciences, as well as mathematics and philosophy. Without physics, there would be no computer, no electricity, no car, no air-con, etc. Physics challenges our imaginations with concepts like relativity and string theory, and it leads to great discoveries, like computers and lasers, that change our lives. The importance of physics and its further application are reached to the knowledge of students by making the students to actively participate in seminars, conferences, workshops and in discussion forums. The classroom learning is supplemented with the lab activities where the students carry out experiments under the guidance of the teaching staff.

Chemistry is greatly involved in the world of engineering. Whether it is aerospace, mechanical, environmental or other engineering fields the makeup of substances is always a key factor which must be known. Similar to that of physics, chemistry gains its own significance in engineering and technology. The engineering chemistry helps the learners to probe in-depth in its application in their chosen field. The Chemistry lab is updated ever to meet the requirement of the curriculum and enables the students to gain practical exposure through experiments .It further supplements their theoretical understanding.

Mathematics enhances students' logical, functional and aesthetic skills. Application of mathematical knowledge in every field of study and industry produces new discoveries and advancement of new disciplines. The students are taught to practice math that help them acquire skills such as analyzing patterns, logical thinking, problem solving and ability to see relationships which assist them to prepare for their chosen career and enables them to compete against people around the globe.

Good communication skills are indispensable for the success of any professional. If one wants to reach out to people, he or she has to speak their language. The English language, in particular, has become essential in the lives of young people who aspire to advance their careers anywhere in the world. Understanding the role of English in the lives of engineers, the college takes additional efforts to help the students build their communication skills through the bridge course, workshop and discussion forums. The department also organizes orientation programme especially for the students who had English as the second language.

The college has a separate computer lab supported with language software and microphone which is dedicated for the improvisation of students' language skills. The language trainer administers tests and provides computer evaluated feedback of their performance. The authorized language software content is practiced to hone the listening, speaking, reading and writing skills among the learners. Being able to communicate well is the most important factor when seeking a placement in a company or institution. The Communication skills lab gets students exposed to sufficient practice in the lab. The Commissioner of Technical Education & Head of SPFU along with the British Council subscribed JOB SEEKERS application to the college, which is a series of 91 animated videos that aims to develop the English Language abilities, and their skills related to employability.

To establish into a world-class research centre where the research activities that focus on socially conscious projects are carried out through innovations and interdisciplinary collaborations to meet the growing needs of society with ethical standards and to achieve greater recognition for the efforts in the chosen fields.

To provide students with the fundamental knowledge, societal and business awareness, and confidence required to excel in their chosen professions.

To serve our students by teaching them problem-solving, leadership and teamwork skills and the value of commitment to quality, ethical behaviour, society and respect for one another.

To provide our students an education that enables them to be productive and successful professionals throughout their careers.

To encourage research oriented activities as a primary task to make the learners become more authoritative of their understandings.

To create and disseminate knowledge through research, teaching, and learning and to present intellectual products to society.

To be recognized as one of the institutions of excellence through research, innovation in education and transfer of concepts.
